15th Annual FIN Calendar Published With 84 Fastener Dates for 2010

1995 FIN ? Ecumenical Spirit Spawns Fastener Events Calendar
November 20, 1995 FIN – A year ago when Congress adjourned without passing the amendments to the U.S. Fastener Quality Act, capitol insiders told fastener industry leaders they needed to come to Washington with a united front.

The Industrial Fasteners Institute and the National Fastener Distributors Association put aside differences over earlier proposed amendments and formed a Committee of Six to make recommendations to Congress.

The Fastener Industry Coalition asked the IFI and NFDA to expand the industry representation and the result was the nine-member Public Law Task Force.

The Task Force created a new spirit of industry associations working together.

At the spring NFDA meeting, IFI and regional association leaders met to discuss other industry issues. Old barriers were falling.

After observing the new ecumenical spirit between associations and leaders, plus discussions of more industry-wide programs, Fastener Industry News decided to produce an industry events calendar for 1996.

When FIN began contacting potential advertising sponsors, all thirteen months from December 1995 through 1996 were taken quickly.

One sponsor noted that they rarely advertise, but that one calendar with a full year of industry events would help everyone in planning participation.

The inaugural Fastener Industry Calendar of Events, designed by Shawn Chadwick of Chadwick Graphics of San Diego, California, features 55 industry events and a description of each of the industry associations.

The calendar also includes a variety of international holidays, such as the Chinese New Year when fastener plants are closed for as long as a week.

All fastener organizations were invited to be profiled and have their events listed in the calendar. FIN thanks the associations for their cooperation in looking up details such as their first presidents. Several associations advanced their planning to have their events included.
