The first Fastener Fair Budapest drew 1,012 people visiting 171 exhibiting companies from 26 countries, and the show organizers announced.

More than two-thirds (69%) of exhibitors were from Europe. Italy has the largest number of exhibiting companies at 27; the UK had 19; Germany 12; Spain 11; and Netherlands 8.

There were 15 exhibitors from the host country of Hungary and 43% of visitors came from Hungary.

Asian countries represented 28% of exhibitors with 27 from Taiwan and 13 from China.

Fastener Fair registration information indicates 77% of visitors had purchasing responsibility, 43% were senior managers/directors/owners and 8% had technical or engineering roles. More than one third of visitors were manufacturers.

More than two thirds of visitors (68%) were from Eastern Europe, including Croatia, Romania, Czech Rep, Slovakia and Poland. Europe as a whole accounted for 96% of visitors.

With 388 exhibitor staff there were a total of 1,415 registered for Fastener Fair Budapest.

“We were very pleased with the visitor numbers, particularly as this was the first Fastener Fair staged in Budapest,” said organizer Jerry Ramsdale said. “They compared very well with the established UK Fastener Fair event and included a high proportion of decision makers (77% purchasing responsibility, 43% senior management).”

Fastener Fair used multilingual publicity and had a Hungarian language specialist.

Visitors came from as far as Malta, Estonia, Cyprus, Iceland and Finland.

The next Fastener Fair is internationally oriented and will be October 7-8, 2009, in Stuttgart, Germany.
