2009 Fastener Fair Stuttgart Setting Records Despite Economy

The international Fastener Fair Stuttgart exhibition is bucking the global economic trend for trade shows by growing rather than shrinking.

“For the first time, we’re on track for more than 500 exhibitors,” show organizer Jerry Ramsdale declared.

The show in Germany will be October 7-8, 2009, at the new Messe Stuttgart, adjacent to the airport. It is designed for the full range of the fastener and fixing market and includes manufacturers, machine suppliers, wholesalers, distributors, importers, exporters and tool suppliers, trade associations and suppliers of services and related products. There are 481 exhibiting companies thus far, which already bests the 435 record in the 2007 biennial show.

“Against a backdrop of well-established shows postponing their events or running them with much reduced exhibitor numbers, Fastener Fair Stuttgart is seeing dramatic growth,” Ramsdale noted.

The May 2009 National Industrial Fastener Show/East was cancelled and show management reported recently that booth sales for the November 16-18, 2009, NIFS/West in Las Vegas is running 13% behind last year’s pace.

With FFS exhibit sales going well, show management is preparing a major visitor promotion and marketing campaign to bring in a record number of visitors. “All the basic groundwork for this has been done and within the next few weeks we’ll be launching some innovative initiatives that are truly groundbreaking for trade shows,” Ramsdale said.
