Nucor To Boost SBQ & Wire Rod Production
Nucor has applied for a 15-year PILOT from the Memphis Economic Development Growth Engine for a $113 million expansion project at its Memphis facility, the Memphis Business Journal reports.
The project would create 27 new jobs with a $75,000 average salary. The facility already employs about 400 workers.
If granted, the PILOT would generate more than $9.5 million in new taxes and more than $9 million of abated property taxes.
In January Nucor announced a two-year, $290 million production expansion of bar and wire-rod products, lifting its capacity at plants in Memphis, Darlington, SC, and Norfolk, NE. ©2012 GlobalFastenerNews.com
