Würth Reports Record Sales and Job Growth

The Würth Group set a new sales record in 2011, attaining a 12.3% sales gain to EUR 9.7 billion.

The Würth Group managed to significantly increase sales particularly in Germany, where it grew by 14% to EUR 4.4 billion. Adolf Würth GmbH & Co. KG made a major contribution to this result. The Group’s parent company stepped up sales by 13.2% to EUR 1.2 billion.

To promote development Würth is investing in its Künzelsau location. On December 6 the foundation stone of “the most efficient and most modern distribution center of the Würth Group” was laid as part of a EUR 60 million expansion. The annex of the administrative building in Künzelsau is slated for completion by the spring of 2012.

While the group’s operating result for 2011 is expected to exceed last year’s level by EUR 80 million, the figure was hampered by losses in solar production, especially with regard to the withdrawal from this line of business. As a result, Würth estimated that the operating result 2011 will reach the same level as last year’s result (2010: EUR 385 million).

The number of employees increased by 3,680 to 66,113, including 1,446 new jobs in Germany.

“In 2012, we are also planning double-digit sales growth for the Group”, says Robert Friedmann, Chairman of the Central Managing Board of the Würth Group.

The company warned that “great insecurity regarding the further course of the Euro crisis as well as its consequences for the European Monetary Union put a strain” on economic development.
