Dodge at SFA: Buy Stock in Yourself
John Wolz
The best stock youll ever buy is your own, sales and leadership motivational speaker Bryan Dodge told the Southwestern Fastener Association spring conference.
Dodge stressed continuing education as necessary for leaders. The average CEO reads five books per week, he said.
How many classes have you taken in the past year? Dodge asked. Nothing new in, nothing new out. Be as eager to learn as three- to five-year-old children who are always asking why?
Excerpts from Dodges SFA presentation:
If no problems, no growth.
Life is too short not to be happy.
Dont make their day.
The number one killer of memory is stress.
If you choose to focus on things you cant control, youll be uncontrollable.
If you are in a hole, stop digging.
If you take an idiot and motivate him, what have you got?
Nothing changes until you change. When you change, everything changes.
Protect yourself. Were all kids. Be careful who you hang around.
Dont risk life. Design life.
If you dont use your imagination, you lose it.
When put in charge, take charge.
Judge yourself on results, not activities.
Plan your time strategically to give you the highest return on energy.
Make sure energy is applied in the proper places.
Find the things that are easy not to do and do them.
Memory can become your most bankable asset. It is the skill people are most likely to remember about you.\ 2002 FastenerNews.com
