Metalformers’ Economic Confidence Edges Up for August
North American metalformers were a bit more optimistic in August than in July but most still expect business conditions to stay more or less the same in the near term, according to the Precision Metalforming Association’s latest Business Conditions Report.
A total of 23% of PMA members responding to the August survey believe general economic activity will increase over the next three months. A month earlier 19% anticipated increased economic activity.
The August survey also shows 46% expect no change and 31% expect a decline.
Consistent with this, 29% of respondents anticipate an increase in incoming orders over the next three months (up from 26% a month ago), although 40% expect no change and 31% expect a decrease.
Respondents also said current business conditions are essentially unchanged from 3 months ago, with 43% reporting no change in average daily shipping levels and 85% reporting no change in average lead times. ©2012 GlobalFastenerNews.com
