Cardinal Fastener Teams with ROI Energy for Sustainability
Cardinal Fastener Inc. completed a lighting retrofit of its 90,000 sq ft facility in Cleveland, OH.
The company said the installation of energy efficient lighting reduced their carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 294 tons — the equivalent of taking 53 cars off the road or conserving 33,317 gallons of gasoline.
The job was handled by ROI Energy Solutions Inc.
“This update improved the quality of light in the plant, increasing productivity and reducing our lighting energy costs by 48%,” said Wendy Brugmann, EVP & COO of Cardinal Fastener.
Cardinal Fastener president John Grabner added: “Reducing Cardinal’s carbon footprint is an important part of our sustainability plans going forward. This retrofit clearly demonstrates our awareness of and commitment to reducing our energy footprint.”
ROI Energy president Bob Taussig said that business owners typically save 50% in lighting energy costs, realize twice the light in production and warehouse environments, capture a lucrative EPAct accelerated tax deduction worth tens of thousands of dollars and in many cases qualify for utility company rebate incentives, helping to offset the cost of these cost savings initiatives.
The sustainability investment comes months after Cardinal Fastner touted its growing business, boosted by parent company Würth Group’s “significant Investment,” which included $1 million in new equipment and a decision to buy directly from domestic mills and reduce raw material costs, as reported in Distributor’s Link magazine.
