2012 Anixter Int’l results

Anixter International reported full-year sales in its OEM Supply segment, including Anixter Fasteners, declined 2.5% to $927.5 million.
Geographically, OEM Supply sales declined 3.7% in North America to $405.9 million, while segment sales in Europe fell 2.7% to $438.6 million and Emerging Markets sales grew 6.1% to $61.1 million. 

During the fourth quarter OEM Supply sales declined 12.4% to $200.3 million, driven by a year-over-year decline in heavy truck production levels in North America along with weaker manufacturing production levels in the European region. 

Full-year segment adjusted operating loss was $2.7 million, excluding $25.9 million of impairment, pension-related and restructuring charges, compared to an operating profit of $3.5 million in the year ago quarter. Adjusted operating margin was negative 1.4% compared to 0.2% in the previous quarter and 1.5% in the year ago quarter.

Geographically, OEM Supply sales in Q4 declined 12.4% to $87.4 million in North America, while sales in Europe decreased 11.8% to $100.1 million and Emerging Markets sales dipped 19.1% to $12.8 million.

Overall Anixter sales grew 3% to a record $1.54 billion in Q4, while net income fell 38% to $124.6 million. ©2013 GlobalFastenerNews.com
