Election 2012: One Fastener Executive Reelected; One Loses

Orbitform Group owner Mike Shirkey was elected to a second term in the Michigan House of Representatives.
Shirkey, a Republican, defeated his challenger, Bonnie Johnson, with 57% of the vote, according to MLive.com.
Shirkey was first elected in 2010.
He has subsequently been named assistant house majority floor leader. He is vice chair of the House Energy & Technology committee and serves on the Commerce, Health Policy and Regulatory Reform committees.

Another fastener executive sought state office in Pennsylvania but was defeated.
S&S Fasteners owner Kimberly Villella was unsuccessful in her bid to unseat incumbent state senator Elder Vogel, according to New Castle News.
Villella, a Democrat, reportedly plans to serve the remaining three years of her second term as a councilwoman in Baden Borough.
