Former Cardinal Fastener & Specialty Co. president John Grabner was named to the 2013 Manufacturing Council — a private-sector committee directly advising the U.S. Secretary of Commerce, Crain’s Cleveland Business reports.
“Keeping our manufacturing sector strong is critical to job growth in the United States,” U.S. Deputy Secretary of Commerce Rebecca Blank said in a statement. “The council has an important role to play in shaping the direction of our nation’s manufacturing strategy and supporting American businesses and workers.”
Cardinal Fastener received worldwide publicity for its wind energy fastener manufacturing when President-elect Barack Obama toured the plant en route to his 2009 inauguration.
Since then the company was acquired by Germany’s Würth Group at auction for $3.9 million.
The Manufacturing Council, which can have as many as 30 members, was formed in 2004 to advise the Commerce Secretary on government policies and programs affecting U.S. manufacturing. ©2013 GlobalFastenerNews.com
