Würth Service Supply moved its Rock Island, IL, branch to allow better management of inventory, while remaining in close proximity to current customers.
While both the previous building and the new facility are comparable in size at 12,000 sq ft, the new layout allows better workflow.
“The difference between the two locations is that the old building was built as a multi-tenant building with dividing walls and low ceilings,” business manager Lance Boeken explained. “The advantage now is that we have a better flow and racks can be built higher to accommodate additional inventory, which will allow the process of receiving and shipping inventory to be much more efficient and productive.”
The new warehouse has new higher racks for more inventory plus increased productivity for lift trucks and pickers.
The branch has seven employees and is the home branch for key account managers handling agricultural machinery and construction equipment.
Located in Moline, Ill., near I-74, the new facility is 11 miles from the previous location. All employees remain with the branch.
