• Jack Gourley and Mike Gourley of John Gourley Associates will rep Cardinal in eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland.

Founded by John Gourley Sr.  in 1967, the rep agency is now headed by John (Jack) Gourley Jr.  Jack started in 1981 and previously represented Cardinal for 31 years. Jack’s son, Mike Gourley, joined the agency in 2012.

• Hank Schaffner Associates was started in 1982 and will rep Cardinal in California, Arizona and Nevada. 

Hank Schaffner started in the industry at U.S .Steel; was general sales manager of Standard Press Steel (SPS); director of marketing for Allen Manufacturing and president of Titan Fasteners before going into the manufacturer’s representative business. His daughter, Janet DeBiaso, joined Schaffner Associates in 1985.

Cardinal Fasteners also announced it has rebuilt a 600-ton Ajax hot forging upsetter for large bolts and structural fasteners. The equipment produces parts up to 3” diameters and unlimited lengths and its throat opening provides easy access to the dies and a loading height to increase hourly throughput for cost economy. 

The rebuilding is part of a long-term plan to upgrade and expand Cardinal’s equipment.

Fall River Manufacturing Company is celebrating 30 years of manufacturing stainless steel and non-ferrous screws bolts and nuts in the U.S. The manufacturer employs 55 people in Massachusetts.

Mid-Atlantic Fasteners started in a garage in Baltimore, MD, after World War II as a Duo-Fast distributor serving upholstery shops, furniture manufacturers and millwork companies. KUKA Systems North America LLC named Mid-States Bolt & Screw Co.’s Shelby Township branch as its 2013 Supplier of the Year in the mechanical commercial category, president Scott Somers announced.

Kuka’s purchasing department considered multiple suppliers based on annual sales and performance measurables such as on time delivery, pricing and cost savings as key factors in selecting top suppliers in four commodities.  

Kuka’s award panel felt Mid-States went “above and beyond” as their MRO & fastener supplier for their vendor managed inventory. “[Mid-States] has opened 4 new facilities [crib sites] this year, working tirelessly to get them up and running by the required date,” according to Kuka. Mid-States is “readily available every time we call…”
