Fastenal 1st Half Sales Up

Fastenal Company reported first half sales rose 9.1% over the first half of 2001 to $448 million, but net earnings slipped 0.6% to $39.5 million.
Second quarter sales rose 12.6% over the same period of 2001 to $207 million and earnings jumped 14.8% to $21.8 million.
During the second quarter, Fastenal opened 53 stores for a total of 77 thus far this year. Winona, MN-based Fastenal now has 1,102 stores and 4,858 site employees.
