Vossloh Wins Fastener Contract for Mongolia Line

Vossloh Fastening Systems was awarded a contract to supply its MNG 30 fastening system for a new 217 kilometer line in Mongolia, International Rail Journal reports. The award was granted by SAMSUNG C&T Engineering & Construction Mongolia.

The fasteners will be manufactured in Werdohl, Germany, with initial shipment beginning in the coming weeks.

The heavy-haul Mongolia line will run from mines at Tavan Tolgoi to Gashun Sukhait on the Chinese border, and will pass through the Gobi desert, according to IRJ.

In December Vossloh was awarded a $40.6 million contract to supply fastening systems in Saudi Arabia for a high-speed rail line extending from Mecca to Medina.

News of that contract came weeks after Vossloh announced an increase in its North American presence by opening a production plant for Vossloh rail fastening systems in Texas. Production in Waco, TX, is scheduled to begin during the second half of 2014 and add 50 jobs.

Germany-based Vossloh Group focuses on rail infrastructure, rail vehicles and electric buses. In fiscal 2012, around 5,100 employees generated sales of Euro 1.2 billion (US$2 billion). Web: vossloh-fastening-systems.com ©2014 GlobalFastenerNews.com
