Canada Initiates Tariff Review on Fasteners

The Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT) initiated expiry proceedings concerning the dumping of certain fasteners from the People’s Republic of China and Chinese Taipei.

The subject goods are certain carbon steel fasteners, excluding those specifically designed for application in the automotive or aerospace industry, and are generally classified under H.S. classifications 7318.11.00.00, 7318.12.00.00, 7318.14.00.00, 7318.15.00.11, 7318.15.00.12, 7318.15.00.21, 7318.15.00.29, 7318.15.00.31, 7318.15.00.32, 7318.15.00.39 and 7318.15.00.44.

Any firm wishing to participate in the proceedings must file a notice of participation with the Secretary no later than March 18, 2014.  Written submissions & requests for information should be sent to:

CITT will issue a decision on April 23, 2014, on whether an expiry review is warranted. If the Tribunal decides that an expiry review is not warranted, the finding will expire on January 5, 2015.
