Carlo Salvi Marking 75th Anniversary
Carlo Salvi S.p.A. is marking its 75th anniversary of its founding in 1939 by Carlo Salvi.
Born in New York in 1907, Salvi returned to his family’s native Italy when he was eight. Salvi started building mechanical descalers to process hot rolled rod and subsequently several thousand have been sold worldwide.
Salvi began manufacturing more complex machines during late 1940’s with the design and production of a flat die thread roller.
Head slotters followed and in 1952 Salvi built his first single die two blow toggle header. The machine was reliable, low-priced and high speed and was particularly suited to produce recessed-head screws such as Phillips.
Today, Carlo Salvi reports 3,000 cold headers are installed throughout the world. Carlo Salvi has a range of cold forging machines for manufacturing components in several industries, including aerospace, electronics and military.
Sergio Ziotti is CEO.
