Sherex Fastening Solutions Opening Ohio Facility
New York-based Sherex Fastening Solutions LLC will officially open a manufacturing facility in Ohio in November. Sherex Akron is in a new, 24,000 sq ft plant.
The expansion gives the 35-year-old New York-based company, which manufactures in Taiwan and Mexico, an additional U.S. facility.
Twelve of the 15 new Ohio jobs Sherex Akron will create over the next year will be manufacturing. Sherex plans to triple the Akron staff within five years.
“Our growth over the past quarter-century has been directly related to finding better ways to get our products into the hands of customers more quickly and at the lowest total installed cost,” said Sherex president Adam Pratt told Buffalo Business First. “Sometimes that means new processes. Sometimes it means new resources. And sometimes it simply means setting up shop closer to where they are.”
Sherex manufactures rivet nuts that are used as attachment points in the aerospace, defense, military and general industrial markets.
In 1989, Sherex entered the fastener market by forming a partnership with a European fastener manufacturer, Dejond. Sherex spun off its fastener business into Sherex Fastening Solutions LLC in 2004. In 2005, Sherex opened a production facility in Taiwan — Sherex Taiwan.
Sherex is headquartered at 400 Riverwalk Pkwy, Suite 600, Tonawanda, NY 14150. Tel: 866 474-3739 Web: sherex.com
