Fastenal Co. Reports 9.6% Sales Gain
Fastenal Co. reported sales grew 9.6% in November to $286.3 million, with daily sales up 15.3% to $15.1 million during the month. Sales to manufacturing customers increased 13.6%, while sales to non-residential construction customers grew 10.2%.
During November Fastenal opened one new store, bringing its overal store count to 2,648. So far in 2014 Fastenal has opened 23 new stores, about half of the 47 new stores the company opened in the first 11 months of 2013.
Workforce changes in November included an 8.9% increase in distribution personnel, a 3.9% increase in manufacturing personnel, bringing its total personnel to 18,471, up 7.5% from this time last year.
In November Fastenal announced that CEO Will Oberton, who has led the company since taking over for company founder Bob Kierlin in 2002, would resign at the end of 2014. Fastenal named company president Leland J. Hein as Oberton’s successor.
