FDI Shows Sales and Pricing Declines in February
The Fastener Distributor Index declined 7.7% to 49.6 in February. Seasonally adjusted, the FDI dropped 2% to 50.4.
The sales index declined 19.6% to 45, while employment fell 6.3% to 50.
Pricing month-to-month dropped 1.7% to 56.7, while year-to-year pricing dipped 6.2% to 66.7.
About 57% of distributors reported a “higher” outlook for the next six months, while 27% anticipate the “same” results and 17% predict “lower” returns.
The FDI and Pricing are diffusion indexes based on data supplied by FCH Sourcing Network.
The monthly FDI is a joint production of FCH Sourcing Network and the National Fastener Distributors Association.
