SHOW NEWS: NFDA to be Featured at Las Vegas

The exhibition hall will look different this year at the National Industrial Fastener Show/West in Las Vegas. The U.S. elections may be over by the November 10-12, 2004, trade show, but the show floor will still feature a political convention atmosphere.
National Fastener Distributors Association members will be wearing political-style “NFDA Proud Member” buttons. There will be an NFDA version of the “Uncle Sam Wants You” posters and 10-foot-high vertical signs similar to those of American political conventions in booths.
It is all part of the NFDA”s membership recruitment in conjunction with the distribution-oriented trade show.
NFDA development committee member Tim O”Keefe of G.L. Huyett told members that show general manager Gloria Crase waived the standard convention signage rules to allow the NFDA promotion.
Show management reported that as of September 24 more than 470 exhibitors had reserved nearly 550 booths for the 8th annual West show.
The trade show will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday Veteran”s Day and 9 a.m. to noon on Friday.
On Wednesday the Los Angeles Fastener Association will present a full-day seminar on quality assurance and print reading & inspection. Wednesday afternoon the Western Association of Fastener Distributors is sponsoring a conference on the “Impact of China on the U.S. Economy”, featuring Jim Taylor of East-West Logistics and Bruce Darling of Porteous Fastener Company.
There will be an opening reception Wednesday evening. Patrick O”Toole of Atlantic Fasteners and Jerry Hancock of Mega Metrics will be inducted into the NIFS Hall of Fame.
Upcoming deadlines for exhibitors include October 29 for advance discount booth furniture and accessories and November 4 for advance shipments to arrive at the warehouse without surcharge.
Advance registration for attendees is $40. Registration at the show is $50.
