Sundram Fasteners’ China subsidiary is preparing to supply multinational companies located in China, the Hindu Business Line reports.
During 2004 India-based Sundram established the $5 million high-tensile fastener facility about 60 miles from Shanghai. Sundram Chairman Suresh Krishna told shareholders that the China factory’s export business has risen to about Rs 1 crore a month (US$238,000). However, the plant is not operating at full capacity.
Sundram’s China operations manufactures value-added specialty and standard fasteners for commercial and passenger car manufacturers. Sundram supplies General Motors and other auto groups.
Krishna reportedly told shareholders that Sundram envisioned a place among the top three fastener manufacturers in the world. At present, the company is among the top 10. Web: sundram.com 2005 FastenerNews.com
