SPS Acquires Airbus Supplier Dacar of France
SPS Technologies Inc. acquired certain operating assets of Dacar S.A. of Auxerre, France, a supplier to Airbus.
Dacar manufactures precision machined components and structural assemblies.
Dacar sales for the year ended June 30, 2000, were approximately $14.0 million.
Jenkintown, PA-based SPS will integrate Dacar into its aerostructures business. The acquisition of Dacar provides SPS an aerospace manufacturing presence in continental Europe and expands SPS� position on Airbus programs. Web: spstech.com
IHI Looking for Buyers
Industrial Holdings Inc. has put its engineered products group up for sale, including Orbitform, American Rivet, Ideal and Landreth subsidiaries.
The group manufactures fasteners and specialty metal components for OEMs in home furnishings, automotive and electrical components industries.
IHI of Houston has retained Richard Hagan of New York-based Pinnacle Capital Corporation to review offers.
The subsidiaries for sale are Jackson, MI-based Orbitform, which manufactures orbital and impact fastener setting equipment and automated assembly systems; American Rivet of Chicago, which manufactures cold headed fasteners; Ideal Products of Beacon Falls, CT, which manufactures cold headed pin and wire products; and Landreth Products of Houston, which designs and produces rivets and other fasteners.
CEO Robert Cone said IHI would �presumably retain an equity position� in a divestiture, and the remaining business would �be an energy services company.
�We now manufacture and refurbish valves and control systems for major drilling contractors and supply pumping and rotating equipment and services in the oil and gas markets,� Cone noted. �Our involvement in both the upstream and downstream energy markets should increase substantially.�
Infast Acquires Fabricated Components
UK-based Infast acquired Fabricated Components Inc. for $10.25 million.
Infast is a global fastener distribution and manufacturing group.
Atlanta-based Fab-Com distributes fasteners and related components primarily in the southeastern U.S. Fab-Com was owner-managed and founded 20 years ago.
Infast anticipates combining distribution operations now based in Savannah, GA, and Detroit to serve existing UK customers with U.S. operations.
Lilleshall Acquired by Wyko
Lilleshall PLC, the parent company of fastener distributor Senco Ryan, was acquired by Wyko Investments Ltd.
Wyko is a subsidiary of Perdix.
Wyko officials said the acquisition will increase the Perdix group�s capabilities in industrial fastener distribution. Perdix directors believe the acquisition will provide increased revenues through cross-selling of both Lilleshall�s and
Wyko�s products and assist in winning contracts from larger customers by widening the enlarged group�s product range.
Industrial Rivet Buys Wolcott
Industrial Rivet & Fastener Co. purchased 50% of Wolcott Machine & Tool (a domestic manufacturer of brake rivets) and formed a new entity, Rivet Technology Inc. In addition to brake rivet manufacturing, the new company will now manufacturer standard semi-tubular and solid rivets as well as screws and special cold headed fasteners.\
