Europe to Re-Present Anti-Dumping Complaint
Jason Sandefur
The European Industrial Fasteners Institute may re-present an updated anti-dumping complaint on carbon steel fasteners to the European Commission by the end of June.\
The European fastener manufacturers association withdrew its previous compliant in March when EC officials expressed doubts about its acceptability.
The Italian manufacturers association, UPIVEB, has been revising the complaint document based on 2006 financial and market data and pressing EIFI to re-present it as soon as possible.
EIFI has offered no official statement, but could have approved the re-presentation at a recent council meeting.
If the EIFI re-submits this month, an EC decision on an antidumping investigation could be expected by mid August. The EC then would have nine months to make a provisional decision on antidumpting tariffs and 15 months to confirm a definitive decision. 2007 FastenerNews.com
