Wiremaker BCS Industries bought the carbon cold heading wire product line of Ugitech USA, giving the Memphis, TN-based wiremaker a “significant toehold” in the Chicago fastener market, the Memphis Business Journal reports. BCS acquired the line from Ugitech parent company Schmolz & Bickenbach Group of Germany for an undisclosed amount.
BCS, formerly Bluff City Steel, reportedly will operate its new 50, 000 sq ft warehouse in Batavia, IL, to serve as a JIT hub for smaller manufacturers typically private operations with revenue under $25 million.
BCS reported 2006 revenue of $92 million and has about 200 employees at its four U.S. facilities. \ �2007 FastenerNews.com
