John Wolz

John C. (Jack) Wasmer, retired CEO and chairman of Lake Erie Screw Corporation, died at age 84. He was born in 1923 in Cleveland and following service in the Navy during World War II, he began a 43-year career at Lake Erie Screw at the company founded by his father, John C. Wasmer Sr., in 1946. The father previously founded Wasmer Bolt & Nut in 1928 (now known as Tru Fit Screw Product).
Jack Wasmer was the third generation in the fastener business. Charles L. Wasmer worked at L&S starting around 1886 and formed United Bolt in 1911.
Jack Wasmer was active in numerous philanthropic, including hospitals and education. He founded the Professional Givers Anonymous in 1990 to provide education, food, clothing and shelter for the poor of Collier County. He received the Alumni Medal from John Carroll University.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Mary; seven children; 11 grandchildren; three sisters and one brother, retired Lake Erie CEO George Wasmer.
