The economy, U.S./Asian fastener trends and business credits are topics for the Western Association of Fastener Distributors autumn conference, scheduled for October 19-21, 2008, in Sonoma, CA.

Esmail Adibi, director of the Anderson Center for Economic Research at Chapman University, will discuss the Western economic outlook.

Bruce Darling of Porteous Fastener Co. will present an update on U.S./Asian market trends, including price increases, shortages, fuel prices and the fastener market, the effect of the Olympics on raw material supply, the viability of Asian vendors and the U.S. Customs 10+2/24 program.

Greg Seibly, executive vice president for Spokane, WA-based Sterling Savings Bank, will discuss changing standards for business credit.

The program also includes the business owners and executives forums, updates on WAFD’s strategic direction and distributor/supplier meetings.
