By 2012 standard fasteners will become “the fastest growing product group” as demand for high-integrity aerospace fasteners “levels off” after years of “robust activity” between 2002 and 2007, according to a report by the Freedonia Group.
And while the motor vehicle industry will remain the largest consumer of industrial fasteners, accounting for about one-third of total fastener demand through 2012, fasteners for electrical and electronic equipment will be the fastest growing market, according to Freedonia’s “World Industrial Fasteners” report. Fasteners for industrial machinery and fabricated metal products should also increase at above-average rates.
