Nylok received GM approval for its Precote 85 for GM-6175M and GM-6194M specifications. Nylok general manager Nilo Urbani said with the approval Nylok “can now be specified for GM projects requiring more rigorous performance requirements in North America and around the world with GM specification GMW14657.”
The pre-applied fastener adhesive Precote 85 provides locking for automotive applications such as power train and other high-stressed threaded bolts with controlled friction.
Nylok, founded in 1942, has received more than 150 patents and has provided adhesives for everything from NASA applications to a shoe manufacturer to adjust the sound of shoe taps for Lord of the Dance.

Republic Engineered Products Inc. relocated its cold finished division headquarters to its manufacturing plant in Massillon, OH.
Division manager Michael Eberth said combining sales and manufacturing allows “greater efficiencies.”
CEO Jaime Vigil said Republic’s “strong desire to continuously improve our customer satisfaction has led us to make this strategic move. This decision is in sync with our overall objective of maintaining Republic’s position as the leading producer of special bar quality products in North America.”
The Massillon plant is the largest of three Republic cold finished bar manufacturing sites. The other facilities are in Gary, IN, and Hamilton, Ontario.
Republic manufactures cold-finished carbon and alloy bar products in rounds, hexagons, squares and flats in a variety of finishes, grades and qualities for steel distribution, automotive, off-highway and aircraft industries.
