Gilchrist Awards 1st Scholarship

John Wolz

The Gilchrist Foundation awarded its first fastener scholarship.
Robbie and Gina Gilchrist established the foundation and scholarship after selling Capital Fasteners Inc. to Questron Technology Inc. in 1999. A $100,000 portion of their gift became a perpetual fund for scholarships administered through the NFDA. The scholarship requires the recipient make an effort to work in the fastener business upon completing school.
Katie Rieke, sponsored by SPS-Unbrako Corporation, is the first recipient. Her father, George Rieke, is an SPS sales rep.
We have enjoyed tremendous success and opportunity in the fastener industry, Gilchrist told the NFDA when the program was announced in 2000. It was only fitting for us to come up with some idea to give back.
