ACQUISITIONS: Würth Group Merges 2 UK Companies
Winzer Würth Industrial Ltd and Würth UK Ltd are merging into a single company in a 12-month staged process. The two subsidiaries to form a company under the name of Würth UK Ltd, based at Erith, Kent, with a total staff of about 700 employees.
Winzer Würth, acquired by the group in 1986 has focused on customers from the wood, construction and metalworking trades.
Würth UK was founded by the Würth Group in 1973 and specialized in the automotive after-sales market.
In the long term, Würth told Fastener+Fixing, the “merger is intended to constitute an important step towards a more aggressive market strategy and a doubling of sales, the aim being to improve market penetration and to position the new Würth company as one of the largest sales forces in the UK market.”
Würth’s main route to market globally is via sales consultants and the new company will employ a field sales force in excess of 550 consultants and managers. Würth anticipates more than 5,000 customer contacts a day offering a 12,000 strong product range stocked at the Erith warehouse, with further access to another 100,000 products from the Würth Group’s range.
Würth also has a network of trade outlets throughout the UK, which provide direct customer access to the product range.
The transfer from the current Winzer Würth offices and warehouse in Godalming to the new enlarged company in Erith will be completed in stages over the next 12 months, with a priority on ensuring that high levels of customer service are maintained. ©2009 GlobalFastenerNews.com
