Show organizer Mack Brooks Exhibitions Group will conduct its first Fastener Fair USA in Ohio in 2018.
UK-based Mack Brooks’ announcement indicates the new tradeshow will market more directly to OEM engineers, designers, buyers and R&D professionals. It creates competition to the National Industrial Fastener & Mill Supply Expo.
Fastener Fair USA is scheduled April 11-12, 2018, at the Huntington Convention Center in Cleveland. The tradeshow will include educational programs and networking events.
Mack Brooks announced the new show during Fastener Fair Stuttgart – the world’s largest fastener trade show.
Fastener Fair USA is being marketed as “bringing together manufacturers, distributors, suppliers and end users” and include fastener, fixing and joining technology.”
Mack Brooks is planning on exhibitors from around the world at the inaugural Fastener Fair USA. Product categories include industrial fasteners and fixings; construction fixings; assembly and installation systems; fastener manufacturing technology; storage, distribution and factory equipment; information, communication and services.
“The idea to bring Fastener Fair to the U.S. market originated within the fastener industry,” Mack Brook executive VP Melissa Magestro said. “There is an increased need to find new technologies and suppliers in the U.S. and fastener OEMs and distributors are looking for a platform to show case their solutions. We are bringing the Fastener Fair experience to the heart of the Midwest manufacturing region.”

The new convention is located in downtown Cleveland and is managed by SMG, a national convention center management firm. It is connected to a 600-room Hilton Hotel and is within walking distance of 5,000 hotel rooms. Web: ClevelandConventions.com
Cleveland promotes itself as being within 500 miles of half the U.S. population.
Fastener Fair, founded by Jerry Ramsdale, was first held in 1995 in the UK with 27 exhibiting companies. The Stuttgart edition began in 2005.
Since 1997, NIFMSE has been conducted in Las Vegas. NIFMSE started in Columbus, OH in 1981 and was distributor oriented.
Since acquiring NIFMSE in 2015, Emerald Expositions has expanded attendance criteria beyond distributors to include engineers and other categories. The next NIFMSE is October 17-19, 2017, at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
The 2016 NIFMSE set a record topping 1,000 booths.
The Mid-West Fastener Association has been conducting smaller trade shows in the Chicago area for 35 years. The next is the biennial FastenerTech, which will be June 6-7, 2017, at the Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, IL.
FastenerTech currently shows 101 booths reserved for the 2017 trade show.
Mack Brooks was a likely suitor when NIFMSE founders marketed the trade show in 2009. A company source indicated Mack Brooks determined it would be cheaper to start a new show than buy NIFMSE.
