Hilti Opens Fastening Products Plant in Mexico

Hilti Corporation opened a fastening products manufacturing facility in Matamoros, Mexico.

The US$13.7 million, 15,000 sq meter plant will manufacture products for the North and Latin American markets. Initially there are 50 employees, but is projected to employ 150 by 2015. The site total 65,000 sq meters providing room for expansion.

The new location provides delivery cost and impact advantages, includes new technology and equipment and enables Hilti to limit negative currency influences as material procurement and production take place in the same economic area.

“The opening of our plant in Mexico represents the next step in the development of our global plant structure,” said Hilti Group chairman Pius Baschera. “The further strengthening of our international production network ensures the improvement of our competitive ability and our presence with the customers.”
