Ohio State Actively Continues Planning Fastener Research Center
Planning continues for an “Assembly & Fastener Research Center” at Ohio State University, a professor involved in the process told GlobalFastenerNews.com.
The proposed center will offer courses on mechanical assembly and fastening, have a fastener reference library in their design project studio, offer testing and certification services and fundamental research on applied problems in assembly and fastening, research engineer Leo Rusli told FIN.
The fastener center would be within the OSU college of engineering.
Randy Moses, the interim associate dean for engineering research, told FIN last year that OSU is not currently considering a formal degree program in fastener engineering. However that can change based on student and constituent interest (see FIN, September 2, 2009.
OSU’s College of Engineering has about 4,800 undergraduate students, 1,200 masters and doctorate students and 280 fulltime faculty members.
