Abbott-Interfast Corp. is marking its 70th anniversary.

Since Martin “Marty” Binder opened the doors, Abbott has secured over 25 patents. Although best known for yellow nylon insert locknuts, in 2017 Abbott began a campaign to market other products and services.

Abbott provides global sourcing, screw machine specials, plastic knobs, inventory management and assembly with domestic and overseas partners and alliances. The Nationwide Fastener Directory started 46 years ago has become the industries “go to” source for hard-to-find items and is now online: nwfast.com. Search tools have been improved and there is a “virtual book.”

Marty Binder believed in “Made in USA” manufacturing, which is still a major part of Abbott-Interfast. Richard Binder made Abbott one of the first ESNA licensees to manufacture nylon insert locknuts.

Abbott-Interfast continues to manufacture at its 100,000 sq ft family-owned facility. Currently modern day machining and CNC machines are being added.

Abbott-Interfast can either procure product or make it in-house for short lead times.

The screw that works like a Tool! and SplitStop trademarked fasteners were created by Abbott, with 4 patents on high performance screws designed to solve OEM issues driving screws into wood, composite or engineered decking products. Web: SplitStop.com.

Marty Binder was one of the founders and an early president of the Chicago Bolt, Nut & Screw Association – now known as the Mid-West Fastener Association. Richard Binder and three employees also have been MWFA presidents, including current Abbott president Bob Baer, who also is on the Fastener Industry Coalition. Abbott-Interfast has exhibited at every MWFA trade show.

Abbott continues to upgrade with such additions as recent inspection optical equipment, more CNC machines, an upgraded website and computer system, and planned enhancements such as wireless warehousing and bar coding.
