Turkish auto parts supplier Norm Fasteners plans to open its first U.S. operation in Lansing, MI, the Lansing State Journal reports.
Norm Fasteners, which supplies fasteners for Tesla’s new Model 3 as well as parts for John Deere, will open a distribution center in Lansing that will create between 15 to 20 jobs, writes Haley Hansen of the Journal. The company is leasing 20,000 sq ft of warehouse space and expects jobs at the facility to pay at least $25 per hour, said Koray Gurbuz, America general manager of Norm Fasteners.
The Lansing Area Economic Partnership worked with Norm Fasteners in order to bring the company to the region.
“Lansing is the capital city of Michigan, and it’s in the heart of the car industry,” said company vice chairman Nedim Uysal. “That helped us make our decision to locate in Lansing.”
Norm Fasteners is a U.S. subsidiary of Norm Group, which was founded in 1973 in the city of Izmir on Turkey’s Aegean coast. The company has nine production facilities in Turkey and more than 1,800 employees to manufacture bolts and fasteners, among other auto parts. Over the past decade, Norm Fasteners production has quadrupled.
Norm Fasteners has distribution centers in France and Germany, but its production is based in Turkey. Web: normcivata.com.tr
