South Africa made a final determination on safeguard measures for imported threaded fasteners of iron or steel, proposing to implement a three-year safeguard measure on the products involved in the form of ad valorem tariffs, which are levied on the basis of value instead quantity, size or weight, according to Yieh Corp Steel News.

The first year (March 27th, 2020 – March 26th, 2021) was set at 54.04%; the second year (March 27th, 2021 – March 26th, 2022) at 52.04%, and the third year (March 27th, 2022 – March 26th, 2023) at 50.04%, according to the measure.

The South African tariff codes for the products involved are 7318.154.41, 7318.15.42 and 7318.16.30.

The investigation period for the case was from July 1st, 2014, to June 30th, 2018, according to Yieh Corp Steel News.
