SHOW NEWS: Wire 2010 Exhibit Space Up 7.3%

Show management for Wire 2010 / International Wire & Cable Trade Fair in Düsseldorf, Germany, reported preliminary numbers of 2,400 exhibitors and 69,200 visitors from more than 100 countries.

The combined shows totaled 1.07 million sq ft of net exhibit space.

Ray Zirkle of the International Fastener Machinery & Suppliers Association described the Wire show as “busy, but Fastener Hall 15 was a little slow – though exhibitors seemed happy.”

National Machinery sales director, Jerry Bupp, who ended up stranded in Europe as a result of the ash cloud pouring from an Icelandic volcano but he told Fastener+Fixing Magazine he had no complaints.

Visitor volumes seemed down, felt Bupp, but the geographic spread was wide. “The show was excellent with multiple sales closed during the exhibition to customers from varied geographic locations,” he said.

”The show seems to support the idea that our industry is on an upward swing,” assessed Bupp. “It may be slow and cautious but it is at least in recovery mode.” North America, though, was “barely represented” in contrast to strong representation from South America as well as Europe, with visitors from across Asia, many from China, some from India.

At the Wire 2010 portion of the biennial trade shows, 1,219 companies from 52 countries exhibited on 559,700 sq ft of net exhibit space – an increase of 7.3% over 2008. There were 147 fastener manufacturing-related exhibitors.

Wire 2010 was attended by 35,000 trade visitors from 70 countries, 63% from outside Germany. The majority of the visitors came from Great Britain, France, the U.S., Italy, India, the Netherlands and Spain
as well as from Brazil, Turkey, Austria and Switzerland.

Wire & Tube will again be held concurrently in Düsseldorf, G in 2012. Exact dates will be announced soon.  For information contact Messe Düsseldorf North America. ©2010 GlobalFastenerNews.com
