Sargent Aerospace & Defense plans to expand and upgrade its operations in the Tucson, AZ, area.

Sargent, part of Dover Corp.’s Industrial Products segment, is a global supplier of specialty fasteners and other precision engineered components and aftermarket services to the aerospace industry.

Headquartered in Marana, AZ, since 1990, Sargent purchased four acres south of its current 60,000 sq ft facility to build to build a projected 70,000 sq ft campus adjacent to the existing plant.

The company, founded in 1920, plans a new engineering design and qualification lab to support the growth of key programs such as the VIRGINIA class submarine, the new Boeing 787 and Airbus A350 commercial aircraft, and Lockheed Martin’s F-35 Joint Strike Fighter.

“Our decision to expand in the greater Tucson region, specifically Marana, was driven by a need to retain a strategic location with a culturally diverse employment base,” stated Sargent president Scott Still. “Being close to California and Mexico allows us access to both key aerospace suppliers and our existing manufacturing plants via a well-established transportation network.” ©2010 GlobalFastenerNews.com
