  John Grabner of Cardinal Fastener was named as an advisor to the American Wind Energy Association board of directors.
Cardinal Fastener created a wind power division in 2008 due to growing sales of fasteners for wind turbines. Wind customers account for about 20% of Cardinal business.
Cardinal Fastener made international news in January when then President-elect Barack Obama visited the factory to promote wind energy on January 16, 2009, en route to his inauguration.

  Deepak Fasteners Ltd. received a INR700 million (U.S.$14.9m) investment from Banyan Tree Growth Capital, AltAssets reported.
Deepak manufactures industrial fasteners at three facilities in India. In 2008 Deepak acquired rights to the Unbrako brand and a plant in Shannon, Ireland.
Unbrako supplies the F1 racing industry.
Deepak managing director Sanjeev Kalra said the Banyan Tree investment will be used to increase manufacturing capacity, enter new markets and capitalize on its brand.

  A. Raymond Group is investing 157.5 million rubles (US$5.16m) to build an automobile fasteners plant in Russia.
The Investment Council of the Nizhegorodskaya Region approved A. Raymond’s application for a 20,000 sq meter land parcel in the Eastern Industrial Area in Dzerzhinsk.
The plant is projected to begin production in 2012.

  Semblex Corp. president Don Cunningham promoted Gene Simpson to vice president of quality & engineering. Simpson succeeds Guy West, who left Semblex.

  Sherex Fastening Solutions received U.S. Patent #7,713,011 for the technology of its rivet nut, “Riv-Float,” with internally floating threads. The patent covers the technology in a fastener assembly having marginal end portion of body deformed about captured nut.
“Riv-Float solves the issue of attaching components in off center applications,” Sherex vice president Adam Pratt explained.
