Vico Moving From South Carolina to Mexico
Vico’s facility in Sumter, SC
Automotive fastener manufacturer Vico Co., will close its South Carolina facility and move production to Mexico. Vico is following its Bosch Braking System from Sumter to Mexico.
Ten employees will be laid off from Vico’s Sumter, SC, warehouse.
“It’s certainly unfortunate for the people employed at the facility, and we are never pleased when another U.S. company decides that they can be more profitable in another country,” CEO Jay Schwedler told the Item/Area Development Site & Facility Planning. “We will continue to work hard to identify jobs and investment for the community, and we are confident there is good news on the manufacturing front coming in the next couple of months.”
Vico will shut down the Sumter facility and move and to Mexico by the end of September.
