Bossard Doubling Headquarters Logistics Center in Switzerland

The Bossard Group will nearly double the size of its logistics center in Züg, Switzerland to increase efficiency and provide for growth targets.

Bossard will spend CHF 22 million (US$22.9m) to expand the logistics center and install inventory management and conveyor systems. It will improve supply reliability for customers using automated logistics direct to assembly lines.

Construction will begin in spring 2011 and the expansion will open during 2012.

The future warehouse will have capacity for 530,000 different stock units and for 18,000 pallets.

The new facility will include a geothermal heat pump for the logistics center and adjacent administrative center.

The Bossard family has led the company for six generations dating back to Kaspar Bossard-Kolin, who founded the ironware business in 1831 after the Kolins’ silk trading business closed.

Bossard began international expansion in 1971 and began being traded on the Swiss stock exchange in 1987.

Today Bossard sells fasteners worldwide and provides technical and engineering support and inventory management to local and multinational industrial companies. Bossard has 1,450 employees at more than 50 locations worldwide. Sales in 2009 totaled CHF 395 million (US$411m).  Web: Bossard.com  ©2010 GlobalFastenerNews.com
