Würth S.r.l. in Italy
The Würth Group reported 2010 global sales rose 14.2% over 2009 and the company increased jobs by 7.9%, according to a preliminary annual report.
Würth sales totaled Eur 8.6 billion (US$11.4b).
• Preliminary profit projections are up from 2009. Würth anticipates operating result will be between EUR 380 and 400 million (US$503m to $529m)– up from Euro 235 million (US$314m) for 2009.
• The number of employees increased by 4,551 or 7.9% to 62,433. More than 30,000 are sales representatives.
• Sales in Germany grew 16.9% to EUR 3.9 billion (US$5.2b). Overseas sales rose 12.1%.
• The Würth Group’s parent company – Künzelsau, Germany-based Adolf Würth GmbH & Co. KG – succeeded in surpassing the one billion Euro mark within one business year (EUR 1.1 billion (US$1.5b) in 2010).
“This excellent result has not been brought about by a rigorous cost-cutting program,” Würth central managing board chairman Robert Friedmann said. “On the contrary: Our plan to put all our efforts into sales and to continue to invest in this field has worked out pretty well.”
Würth announced “substantial investment in sales” for 2011. Würth plans to increase the number of sales offices in Germany and abroad during 2010. The branch offices now total more than 1,000 shops.
Friedman said Würth is planning double-digit sales growth in 2011.
As of the end of 2010, the Würth Group consisted of more than 400 companies in 84 countries.
In its core business the sales range for trade and industry comprises over 100,000 products from screws, screw accessories and anchors to tools, chemical-technical products and personal protection equipment.
The Allied Companies of the Würth Group, which either operate in business areas adjacent to the core business or in diversified business areas, offer products for DIY stores, material for electrical installations, electronic components such as circuit boards as well as solar modules and financial services.
