FIN SURVEY

The following is a sampling of comments written by FIN Survey participants:

“We have survived another recession.  It started in 2008 and continued and continued. But 2011 will be better.”

“I think we have been through the worst of it, in terms of the downturn. I am very optimistic for the future.”

“One heck of a ride, as I have said in late 2008 and 2009 we had to jump off the cliff. The rope was tossed in late 09 and the trick/challenge was to see how fast you could get back to the top.”

“Stronger in 2011.”

“Should see moderate growth in 2011 with greater growth anticipated in 2012.”

“Those who survived on credit in previous years are no longer with us.”

“Those who were too deep in debt deserve to go under.”

“Tough, but if you read history, you see we’ve been through it before.”

“Recessions are normal.”

“Read the history stories in FIN.  We survived the recession of the early 1980s and most of us will survive this one. Takes time.”

One word responses included: “Easy!” and “Help!”

On the Fastener Industry:

“There is a definite opportunity for North American manufacturers to regain lost market share.”

“We need to support our domestic industries.”

“I love it, however, I feel it is becoming a blue collar industry. It is not sexy nor does it pay as well as some of the other industries. So not very optimistic for the future.”

“A great industry to be part of.”

“Over all view of the future of our industry is a positive place to be.”

“Congress needs to refuse deficit spending and taxpayers and businesses need to quit demanding endless spending.”

“Expect M&A activity to continue at a moderate pace, probably through 2013. It will be interesting to see how this continued M&A activity impacts master distributors over the coming years.” ©2011 GlobalFastenerNews.com
