FIN SURVEY
Not one End of 2010 FIN Survey participant rated confidence in the North American or Global economies at “very low.”
Though still below averages of recent years, the economic confidence of fastener executives edged up from record lows in the past two years.
• The Global Economic Confidence Index jumped to 3.1 from 2.8 a year ago and 2.2 at the end of 2008 when the recession was new.
The global high was 3.3 for both 1995 and 2004.
• The North American fastener industry enters 2011 more confident than a year ago. The North American Economic Confidence Index for the end of 2010 rose to 3.0– up from 2.7 a year ago and 2.1 at the end of 2008.
The North American high was 3.8 for 1998.
• A year ago no FIN Survey participant rated their confidence in either the Global or North American economies at “Very High.”
This year 6% ranked their confidence at “Very High” and another one third at “high.” A 60% majority pegged their confidence level as “Moderate.” ©2011 GlobalFastenerNews.com
