Field Fastener Breaks Ground on Lean-Designed Addition

Field Fastener Supply Co. broke ground on a 43,000 sq ft addition to its Rockford headquarters.

“Our goal for the facility is to be the most efficient warehouse in the industry,” Jim Derry declared. “We have worked with several lean consultants to optimize the layout and work flow of the facility.”

The addition includes a work out facility, great room with fireplace and game room for Field’s 56 “team members.”

Founded in 1976 by Dick Field, the distributorship was acquired in 1990 by brothers Bill Derry and Jim Derry. Subsequently Field Fastener sales have averaged a 19% annual growth rate. Field boasts a 99.8% on time delivery rate; 99.96% percentage of orders shipped correctly; and 99.64% inventory cycle counting accuracy.

Bill Derry was the 1997-98 president of the National Fastener Distributors Association and Jim Derry the 2010-2011 president.

Today Field supplies fasteners, inventory management and technical support in 15 countries to 900 customers. Field is headquartered at 9883 N. Alpine Rd., Machesney Park, IL 61115. Tel: 815 637-9002 Fax 815 637-7575 Web: fieldfastener.com ©2011 GlobalFastenerNews.com
