The Achilles Heel of “Buy American”
Hill Fastener founder Robert Hill was part of Businessweek’s coverage about how the armed forces may be accelerating the decline in U.S. industries by searching offshore for lower-cost alternatives.
Hill, who recently sold his company to Maclean-Fogg, said manufacturers like his company are “slipping away.”

The waiver covers construction of stimulus-funded housing and contractors were unable to find domestic supply for screws, ceiling fans, shower rods, towel racks and toilet-paper holders.
