Heydenreichs Leaving Ace Bolt Following Acquisition by Winzer

The Heydenreich family is retiring from Ace Bolt & Screw following Winzer Corporation’s  acquisition earlier this year of the San Antonio-based distributorship.

Ace traces its history to a founding by Ted Poppe as T.E. Poppe Supply in 1927.

E.F. Heydenreich acquired the company in 1974 and sold the automotive portion in 1976. He named the remaining business Ace Bolt & Screw “because many people pay their bills alphabetically,” Robert Heydenreich explained.

Ace Bolt is a distributor of threaded fasteners with nine locations in South Texas and New Mexico. Ace Bolt includes C.C. Bolt & Screw Co. and New Mexico Bolt & Screw Co. and is headquartered at 200 Brooklyn Av., San Antonio, TX 78215. Dallas-based Winzer, headed by CEO John Carney, stocks 60,000 fasteners and related products for the automotive, fleet and manufacturing industries.

Clint Tate has relocated from Winzer in Dallas to San Antonio to take over as Ace Bolt general manager.

Winzer was founded in 1978 in Culver City, CA, as International Metric Supply by Klaus Wuerth to supply hard-to-find fasteners and products for the growing import car repair market.

In 1979 the company moved to Dallas to create a central location and expanded in domestic automotive fasteners. In 1984 the named was changed to Winzer.  In 1991 Winzer began a MRO fastener franchise program making sales people independent business owners.

Over the years Winzer opened branches in Sparks, NV, Saginaw, MI, and Santa Fe Springs, CA, and is headquartered at 10560 Markison Rd., Dallas, TX 75238. Tel: 800 527-4126 Web: winzerusa.com ©2011 GlobalFastenerNews.com
