Langs to be Inducted in NEFDA Hall of Fame

The New England Fastener Distributors Association Table Top Show is sold out at 84 exhibitors plus a waiting list.
Bill Lang and Pat Lang will be inducted into the NEFDA Hall of Fame during the biennial association events.
The trade show will be 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. October 3, 2011, at the Sturbridge Host Hotel in Sturbridge, MA.  Nine technical seminars will precede the show during the morning and a networking reception and dinner buffet will follow.
GlobalFastenerNews.com is sponsoring its “How to Buy Fasteners” panel with Joel Roseman of Arnold Industries; Jay Queenin of Specialty Bolt; and Bill Vodicka of Allstar Fasteners; and FIN editor John Wolz moderating. The panel will be at noon.

• Nine technical seminars are scheduled Monday morning before the trade show: Fastener Coatings, ND Industries; Cold Heading, Crescent Manufacturing; New England Building Code Approved Anchors, Powers Fasteners; Software for Wholesalers & Distributors, Distribution One; Blind Rivet Applications, Rivet & Eyelet Technologies; Thread Forming Fasteners for Plastic & Metal, REMINC; DFARS Update, Pilgrim Screw; ITAR Update, Safety Socket; and Nylon Inserts and Locknuts, Continental-Aero.

• Bill Lang started in the fastener industry with then-Paramus, NJ-based Bell Fastener Corp. just after graduating from high school and three days before marrying Pat Lang.

Lang next became quality control manager for Bell and then returned to the sales desk, becoming inside sales manager.  After Bell was acquired by Pawtucket Manufacturing of Rhode Island, Bill became a locknut salesman for Aerospace Nylok to stay in New Jersey and was promoted to sales manager.

• Pat Lang started in fasteners when Monogram World Fasteners opened a New Jersey branch.

Pat recalled that all of importer World Fasteners ‘s sales people were women. “This was significant because at that time there were very few women in the fastener industry,” she recalled.

In 1983 Monogram Industries closed World Fasteners, and Pat went into sales for Kanebridge Corporation. After dealing with the old-fashioned Kardex cards at World, “suddenly I was thrust into the world of computers,” she recalled.  In 1985 she was promoted to sales manager and she has been with Kanebridge for 27 years.

In 1988 Aerospace Nylok was sold to Nylok Fasteners Corporation and Bill joined ND Industries.  Subsequently he has been sales manager and division general manager.

Bill Lang has been the NEFDA treasurer and is the current membership chair. Pat Lang is the current NEFDA vice president.
