Boeing Honors Engineer for Assembly System Cutting Production Time
Boeing Research & Technology presented its Special Invention Award to David Wright for a commercial airlines assembly system that has cut 800 hours from production
Wright’s invention is a ring post fastener and wire bundle mounting system. The wiring of an airplane previous to Wright’s mounting system required multiple fasteners, bolts, washers, clamps and spacers to assemble. Wright’s system is one-size-fits-all wiring assembly system.
Wright is a 1985 mechanical engineering graduate of New Mexico State University. He has been with Boeing since 1986.
“These awards are given each year to individuals and teams who are inspired to create the kind of intellectual property that proves most valuable to Boeing and to the future of aerospace,” Boeing stated.
